Promises of safety do very little on their own. The more useful question is what lets someone briefly see enough of the work to believe a product is competent.
Field note 02 — Trust is social and procedural
People borrow confidence from names, interfaces, explanations, recommendations, and the clarity of what happens if something goes wrong. None is sufficient alone; together they form a working judgement.
